Who does Christine work with?

Adolescents / Teens

Is your teen anxious or stressed-out? Coping with changes, grief or loss? Struggling with perfectionism? Is your teen inarguably a High Achiever, or enrolled in a rigorous academic setting? Your teen will love working with Christine, as she ‘gets’ this crew! Christine works with teens from across Arizona and the Phoenix Valley.

Adults

From ages 18 to 80 (and beyond!), Christine partners with motivated adults navigating trauma recovery and personal, professional, and relationship changes. Christine focuses on trauma, chronic illness, traumatic loss, with a specialization in women’s issues and reproductive grief and loss. Christine works with adults throughout Arizona and the Phoenix Valley.

Mental Health Areas of Focus

  • Anxiety and panic can manifest in a host of ways disruptive to daily functioning, and are usually undermined by a trauma or unresolved issue. Counseling offers effective coping tools while ultimately addressing the root cause of anxiety through trauma therapy.

  • Navigating chronic illness can feel heavy, weary, hopeless. Having a safe, supportive space to lighten the emotional load can improve mood, outlook, and relationships.

  • Christine works with people across diverse spiritual traditions. She honors the unique values and perspective of her clients in their healing work. Faith and spiritual integration is welcomed into therapy as desired.

  • Whether grieving the loss of a person, experience, pregnancy, or pet, your loss matters and holds dignity. Counseling can help one navigate the sometimes daunting and lonely field of grief.

  • Heightened sensitivity to sound, smell, touch, taste, and how one takes in new information are just a few hallmark traits of being an HSP. Integrative, somatic and mindfulness-based therapies are key modalities for helping HSP’s feel more centered, grounded and at ease within themselves.

  • Beneath the clamor of political and social debate, abortion can have a quiet impact on the psychological and physiological state of a woman, often unnoticed externally. Christine helps women find healing and emotional freedom following abortion.

  • Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) is the manifestation of an unresolved traumatic event. Trauma is stored in the body. Using modalities such as EMDR and EFT Tapping can effectively reduce PTSD symptoms and improve mood, daily functioning, and relationships.

  • Issues unique to women are compassionately addressed in therapy: hormonal changes, miscarriage or infertility, pregnancy loss, loss of motherhood, abortion, post-partum depression, intimacy challenges, career challenges, parenting.

  • EMDR Trauma Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses sequential eye movements to release trauma stored in the body and mind. EMDR is deeply healing and works quickly and efficiently, eliminating the need to discuss the traumatic event(s) at length and over continued therapy sessions.

  • Internal Family Systems

Accessing more ease and lightness with self and others arises from tending to and connecting with our wounded parts with curiosity and compassion. The Internal Family System model maintains the view that we are, at our core, whole and complete and worthy of love. There are no “bad” parts.

  • Mindfulness & Breathwork

Witnessing the present moment - sights, sounds, smells, sensations inside and outside the body, combined with breathwork, is foundational to shifting into presence. Mindfulness helps us rewire habitual reactions into grounded responses. “The quality of our life is connected to the the quality of how present we can be.”

  • Emotional Freedom Technique

Also called Tapping, EFT is a tool for calming the central nervous system and releasing chronic stress patterns. Gentle acupressure on specific areas of the body (meridian points) creates a calming effect when you’re stressed out! Tapping is a practical tool that, once learned, can be used anytime, anywhere. A tool for everyone’s “tool belt”.

  • Nonviolent Communication

Also called Compassionate Communication, NVC is a framework of language and listening conducive to supporting individuals, couples, and groups navigate conflict with ease to achieve greater empathy, healthy attachment, and emotional connection. NVC is a highly effective tool for relationships of all kinds.

  • Aromatherapy

Aroma and fragrance have a powerful effect on the amygdala, the part of the brain that signals the fight-or-flight system to turn on or off. Essential oils calm, ground, and uplift the human spirit. They support mood regulation and are “essential” when engaging in trauma therapy.

  • Enneagram Insight

The Enneagram is a system of nine distinct types of personality believed to have formed in childhood, giving rise to our strategies to meet needs. Learning your Enneagram type illuminates the habitual reactions and behaviors that we seek to change or heal, and provides a pathway for better understanding in our relationships.

  • Artistic & Journaling

Christine’s holds a safe and supportive space for exploring pain, loss, trauma. Writing and artistic expression can be deeply healing, quieting the ‘thinking mind’ and activating the subconscious mind— the place where memory and solutions and inner wisdom reside. There’s no “talent” required for putting pen or brush to paper to see what emerges!

  • Faith & Spiritual Integration

Incorporating and drawing upon one’s spiritual beliefs, values or faith can fortify the healing journey with a quiet strength bringing purpose to life’s challenges. Christine honors diverse faith traditions and spiritual paths. For those wishing to integrate their faith or spiritual perspectives into counseling, please mention this to Christine.
