When there is no free flow, there is Pain. When there is free flow, there is no Pain.
— Ancient Chinese Proverb

Philosophy of EFT Tapping

Thanks to the evolution of integrative health studies, we know that chronic stress and unresolved trauma contribute to illness and dis-ease—emotionally, mentally, and physically. Accumulated stress and trauma create blockages to flow in the body, and as a result, energy, or Qi as referred to in Traditional Chinese Medicine, becomes stuck and stagnant in our nervous system. When we’re in physical pain or we’re overwhelmed by emotion, this is an indication that our nervous system needs help releasing that stuck energy, or Qi. EFT Tapping is a tool anyone can learn and use to address the daily build-up of stress, and the effects of toxic (chronic) stress and unresolved trauma that keep us feeling stuck. EFT Tapping allows the nervous system to return to its natural state of calm alertness in place of being in fight, flight, or freeze. With EFT Tapping, we can experience the true freedom of emotional and physical flow; the calm and joy we were created to experience. We can live from a healthy mind-body connection, the way nature intended.

The EFT Tapping Sequence

The Basic Tapping Sequence begins with a self-inventory of the intensity of physical or emotional symptoms on a scale of 1 - 10 (ex: “This anxiety feels like an 8 and I feel it in my stomach), and then follows a Setup Statement followed by gentle tapping on specific meridians, or end-points on the body. While gently tapping, we state the truth of how we feel followed by a statement of how we want to feel. A final Self-Inventory is measured to review the shift from the start of applying EFT to after completing at least two rounds of Tapping.

What are Meridians?

Meridians, or end-points on various places on our bodies, have been shown to have a higher density of neural tissue, and they are designed to send a calming signal to the amygdala in our brain, thus reducing the fight, flight, freeze mode. This is demonstrated by the principles of Chinese-based acupuncture and acupressure, wherein needles or topical pressures are applied to these meridian points.
